My very first Australian beverage. It's a Kirks "Creaming Soda." It was tasty, and much needed to fend off the heat.

The inside of St. Mary's Cathedral is immense. It's hard to capture the sense of scale that this place has. The stained glass that lines the walls is both intricate and impressive.

St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney.
Celebrating Catholic mass was outlawed in Australia all the way up until 1820. The reason for the ban was fear that Catholic priests might incite the Irish Catholics into civil strife. The foundation for St Mary's chapel was laid in 1821. The Cathedral first opened in 1882 and it's both massive and very impressive. I love the gothic architecture.

40degrees celcius.
Australia is hot! This cool flowered tree didn't seem to mind.

The Sydney Art gallery is home to some cool works of art. This guy seemed completely absorbed by the bust he was staring at.

How do you take a picture of a building that has been photgraphed millions of times?

I decided to highlite what I think is so cool about the Opera House: the angles. I tried to capture an abundance of angles and slopes all into a tight frame. The building truly is impressive to see.

My British friend Chris is working downtown in Sydney. He works on the 41st floor of massive building. "Most expensive office real-estate in Sydney," he tells me. This is a picture from out of a window in his office. The view is stunning! And while you can't tell from this photo, it's panoramic.

The Sydney Botanical Gardens are pretty. They had some nice flowers. Though I must admit I was just racing through and not exactly stopping to smell the roses.

Yup...its the Opera House. Now I can say I've been there.

From a hilltop overlooking the small gold town of Charters Towers. In 1871 gold was discovered in Charters Towers by a 10-year-old Aboriginal boy. That discovery led to a gold rush growing the population to 30,000. The decline of gold in the area has led to population decline and now sits at about 8,000 with beef being its main industry.
